KT: GCHS Texangals Killing Time DCAT FITS ATT FDC AHOF

KT has been the most successful puppy we've bred to date: she has achieved both her Grand Champion silver level and her National Owner-Handled gold level as well as being awarded a Hall of Fame medal by the national American Manchester Terrier breed club.

In December 2023 she did the most unusual double: she won Best of Breed at the National Owner-Handled Final in Orlando, then crossed the parking lot and took the Best of Breed under 12" national title in FastCAT. If that wasn't enough, she trotted back indoors and made the cut in the NOHS Toy Group.

What a day!!

We knew we were onto a winner when she won the Bred By Exhibitor Best in Show under judge Linda Hurlebaus at the Dallas Club specialty at the age of 8 months old.

She has gone on to place in the group ring and regularly win the Toy group in the owner-handled category. At Lake Charles in 2023, she was picked for Owner-Handled Reserve Best in Show.

At this year's national banquet in 2022, Katie's mother - CH Texangals Theodora "Ted" Logan - was one of the national club's brood bitches of the year in the Toy category, producing 5 champions out of one litter. There are plans to do a repeat breeding of the successful mating in 2024.

We finished up her CHIC number and are waiting for the optimum time to bring her into the breeding program. She better have a lot of puppies because we already have a long waiting list for them!

Apologies for Radio Silence - May 2023 update

I can't believe that I haven't posted on here since November 2022, and not been bragging from the rooftops that Katie is now the top bitch in the country! We took a big trip up to Pennsylvania in April where not only did Katie grab a Select Bitch, a Best of Variety, and an Owner-Handled Group 1, but she earned enough points to achieve the Silver level of her grand champion title. If you're not a show person yourself, you're probably sort of glazing over - blah blah blah blah. The short version, she's been doing really well in the show ring, and I'm super proud of her. Also at home are my foundation bitch, Bonnie, who is enjoying retirement; Larwood, the boy from England, who finished his championship and has had his first taster of the running event called FastCAT; and Hermia, who is one "major" away from her own championship. Larwood is also going to be a daddy soon, all being well. We bred him to Zoot (who lives with my mom) and are expecting puppies...

Texangals Are Expecting!

Bonnie in the Buttercups We're expecting puppies at the end of this month at Texangals in Central Texas. The dam is "Bonnie" (Ch Bluebonnet Dreaming Spires at Texangals), currently #13 TMT in the country, and the sire is "Bentley" (GCH CH Dream Maker's One Sweet Ride At Jhen TKN) who is #7 in breed and #1 in TMT Owner Handler. Bentley  Bonnie with her Boy in Junior Showmanship Bonnie is a 3/4 English bitch imported in 2016 who goes back to Amalek lines with Maggical/Rosewood TMT. Bentley also goes back to the English Reeberrich kennel via Velvet Firefly where his lines connect up with Bonnie's. For those of you who don't really care about lineage, the bottom line is that they're very well bred, they are bred with a number of international influences, and as far as temperament, get along well with other dogs, other types of dogs, and children. A number of dogs in Bonnie's line back in England are Pets as Therapy dogs, visit...

Guess the Dog's Name Challenge

It’s the big, big thing on Facebook right now, showing a photo of your dog with another beside it that relates to your dog’s name. I have been wary of joining in: these Facebook things are ways of data gathering, and I’m very suspicious of them. Also, you may be hard-pressed to work out most of mine! So for your viewing pleasure (or not), here is the dog name challenge for Texangals while I’m down to just the three girls.
